A country boy from
Texas with a talent to write and sing
country songs. Started his own
radio show at the age of 12 on KDWT,
Stanford, Texas. His heroes were
Ernest Tubb, Hank Williams & Lefty
Frizzell, and he sang a lot of their
songs. He fell in love and
married Susie in 1949. He worked
all over Texas performing on big radio
shows like the Big-D in Dallas, Texas,
and the Louisiana Hayride on KWKH in
Shreveport, Louisiana. I met
Johnny Moore in the mid-50's.
Johnny came to Nashville and I
produced his first recordings in
Nashville. Later Johnny moved to
Nashville and brought his niece,
Jeanie C. Riley. Jeannie became
a superstar with Harper Valley
P.T.A. Johnny continued his
music for a while, and then went into
business for himself. He did
quite well owning a number of service
stations in the Nashville area. Johnny
asked me to help him put
together this project, and it covers
his music career. All of his
heart and soul are in his songs.
You can feel it when he sings.
Johnny Moore is like a brother to me,
and I know he'll be with me until the
end, and beyond. This man is a
part of the history that made Country
Music.
